UNDERGROUND FOOD DELIVERY
REQUIREMENTS
Deliver orders from inside the kitchen to a temperature controlled Cache outside through an exterior wall and then underground to a AUTTR (Autonomous Underground Tote Transport Robot). AUTTR would take it to the Output Portal which will then bring it above ground deliver to the customer inside a car.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead Product Engineer for Input Portal and Caching System.
Product design, Project Planning, Controls Planning, Testing/Validation and Customer Installation.
RESULTS
- Passed UL testing for safe install at a commercial kitchen
- Successfully passed long term validation testing and installed at a site for a customer with 600 locations across the U.S.
- 5 seconds cycle time from inside the kitchen to a temperature controlled Cache that can hold upto 6 orders at a time
- 45 second cycle time from the Cache to the Customer
ENGINEERING HIGHLIGHTS
- Designed an electrical box with a slider and cam-lock mechanism for secure operation while having easy access during an emergency
- Developed a custom spring-loaded plunger mechanism for an emergency mechanical unlock
- Integrated a stepper-actuated belt and pulley system with encoder, hall-effect, flag, beam break, and proximity sensors for precise positioning and feedback
- Designed interlocks for external Cache unit for safety during maintenance and repair
- Created a CAD Master Model for the entire system, streamlining subsystem integration and design consistency
